Following the selfless death of Superman (Henry Cavill) himself, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and the fearless Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), search to create a team of unlikely heroes to put an end to the threat of Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), who plans to untie the three “mother boxes” that are hidden in Atlantis, Themyscira, and Earth. Despite the help of the newfound heroes-Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller)-the band might be too late to stop Steppenwolf’s catastrophic attack to destroy the world as they know it.

Though DC’s Justice League is conceived as a correction for the sins of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, it is not its sequel. Justice League is more about solidarity rather than trying to fly solo, so the movie spends majority of the time piecing together the infamous Justice League, figuring out how each hero works in their own way. The director, Zack Snyder, definitely brought more flare and stability to the new movie, especially when it highlights co-screenwriter/director Joss Whedon’s remarkable team building elements, which humanizes each superhero in a way that makes them highly relatable to humanity.

With a sequel in tow, Justice League successfully ushers in a new era for DC films and delivers a richer and more layered movie.
